Rexcapade is a platform game that runs in your browser. It is free and needs no download. You run to the right as one of ten little dinosaurs, jump over pits, bump blocks for coins and power-ups, and stomp the critters in your way. A fall, a hit or the clock running out ends the try, and one tap starts the next. This note covers version 0.11. You can play Rexcapade in another tab while you read.
How do you run and jump? #
On a phone or tablet, hold ◀ or ▶ at the bottom left to run. Tap the arrow at the bottom right to jump, or tap anywhere on the field. Hold the jump longer to go higher.
On a computer, the left and right arrows (or A and D) run, and Space, the Up arrow, W or Z jump. In the menu, the left and right arrows change the level, Space or Enter plays, and Escape pauses.
If you let go of the direction in mid-air, your dinosaur stops moving forward, so you can drop straight down onto a ledge or a critter.

Rexcapade plays in English and in Spanish, and in Spanish it is called Saltosaurio. It starts in the language you use on the site. The EN/ES button beside its name in the menu switches between them.
What is in a level? #
The coins mark a safe way through. A flag halfway along lets you start again from there after a lost try. Every level ends with a staircase and a flagpole, and the higher you catch the pole, the more it pays.
- Blocks. Jump into them from below. Crates hold a coin or a power-up, and some bricks hold a run of coins.
- Power-ups. The hard hat takes one hit and breaks bricks. With the hat on, a crate gives the pouch, which throws pinecones at critters (tap the pinecone beside the jump, or press X, K or Shift). The comet makes you untouchable for a while.
- Pipes with a ring. Stand on one and tap ↓ (or press the Down arrow or S) to drop into a bonus room full of coins. You come out further along the level.
- Critters. Land on a compy, a hopping egg, a hatchling, an egg thief or a pterodactyl to stomp it. A kentro's spikes and a giant dragonfly's tail hurt from above too, so jump right over those. Touching a critter, spines or a thrown egg ends the try.
Stomp critters in a row without touching the ground and each one pays more: 2 bonus coins for the second, 4 for the third, then 8.
Every level has a clock of about twice what a straight run takes, so waiting for every critter to pass costs time. Each new thing comes with a short line the first time you meet it.
Level 1 is already full
It is as full as a late level, and the timing tightens from there. The layout is drawn again every time you play, so a second try never plays the same way. Follow the coins when you can't see a route.
What are the modes? #
- Levels. Numbered, and they never run out. Ten levels make a world, and each world has its own colours and music.
- Daily. One level a day, the same for every player, with a new one at midnight UTC.
- Endless. One run that keeps getting harder until you fall or get hit. Your score is how far you ran, in metres.
How do stars and coins work? #
Every level has three stars:
- Finish it.
- Collect every coin in it.
- Finish it on the first try.
Finishing a level pays 20 coins. You get up to 20 more for how high you catch the flagpole and up to 10 more for the time left on the clock. Each star you earn on a finished level pays 10% more of that play's coins. You keep the coins you pick up even when you fall. A coin is worth more in later worlds, and the menu shows its worth under the level number.
What does the store sell? #
- Upgrades. Magnet pulls coins to you (10 levels). Double jump gives you a second jump in mid-air, from about half a jump to a whole one (5 levels). Spring makes a held jump go higher, a little more with each of its 30 levels. Coin bonus adds 5% more coins per level (20 levels).
- Boosts. Shields, up to 9 at a time: a shield takes one hit or carries you over a pit. Guardian gives you a shield on every run, for good. The coin multiplier is the same one in all our games.
- Looks. 100 characters (ten little dinosaurs, each one of a kind, in ten outfits) and 100 backgrounds. They don't change how the game plays. Reaching new levels opens them, and some open with time played, stars, daily levels or distance in Endless.

Store prices grow with your coin level, which you share across our games, so this note lists no prices.
Does it save my progress? #
As a guest, the game saves your progress and coins in this browser on this device only, and clearing the site's data erases them. With a free account they follow you to every device where you sign in: see your account page. The leaderboard ranks players with an account, by furthest level and stars, and by best distance in Endless.
To keep Rexcapade one tap away, see how to add browser games to your home screen. For another arcade game with levels, daily runs and Endless, the Skimline guide covers our flying game.
