Pulsework keeps earning while it is closed, but only for a limited time. A new plant runs for 2 hours after you leave. The Overnight tank in the store raises that to 8 hours, and Night crew raises it to 24 for good. When you come back, the game shows how much flux the plant made and a few coins, and you tap Collect to take them. This guide describes version 0.2, and you can play Pulsework in another tab while you read.
What does the plant make while you are away? #
Only what comes by itself: your generators and your drones. A drone taps the core for you, so it works in shifts, at the plant and while you are away. Your own taps earn nothing when you are not there to make them.
The plant starts with one dynamo, so a fresh save earns little while it is closed. I have not measured a figure, and none is fixed: it depends on your generators and how far you have raised them. Before you leave for the night, spend your flux on generators and drones, because a bigger rate is what pays while you are gone.
The plant also counts a short absence. If you were gone for under a minute, the flux is simply added and nothing is shown. Longer than that, a panel titled While you were away tells you how long you were gone and, when the cap cut it short, how much of that time the plant ran.
How many hours does the plant run? #
| Source | Time away | Cost at coin level 1 |
|---|---|---|
| Start | 2 hours | free |
| Overnight tank | 3 to 8 hours, one hour per level, 6 levels | 400 coins for the first level, more for each next one |
| Night crew | 24 hours, for good | 50,000 coins |
| Video | 2 hours more, once per return | free |
A few things to know before you buy:
- Prices rise with your coin level. Every coin price in the store is multiplied by your coin level, the same as in the other games, so a price in this table is the lowest one. Coins sit in one wallet shared by every game on the site, and your coin level rises as you reach further shifts.
- The Overnight tank opens in steps. Its first level can be bought from shift 1, the second from shift 5, and so on: a new level every 4 shifts, so the sixth and last opens at shift 21.
- Night crew replaces the tank. With Night crew bought, the limit is 24 hours whatever level the tank has.
- The video appears on the away panel only when the plant hit its limit and the game has a video to show. It adds 2 hours to that one return.
If you are away for 10 hours with a 2-hour limit, the panel says so: the plant ran 2 hours of it. The other 8 are not saved for later.
How many coins does the plant pay? #
One coin for every 2,000 flux the plant made while you were away, rounded up. The coins are small on purpose, since shifts are where the game means you to earn them, and the payout is also capped: it never pays more than 200 coins an hour times your coin level. For coins, play shifts; for flux, let the plant run.
If a coin was rounded up in your favour, the flux it paid in advance is taken off the next time you come back, so returning every few minutes earns no more coins than returning once.
Does changing the clock help? #
No. The game saves the time the plant was last counted every 10 seconds while it is open, and when the page is hidden. That time only moves forward, so setting your device's clock back and forth does not give the same hours twice.
Keep the plant on every device #
As a guest, the plant, your coins and your settings stay in this browser, on this device. A free player account keeps them with your account too, so they follow you wherever you sign in. Choose Create account the first time you open the game, or go to your account page.
On a phone, add the games to your home screen so Pulsework opens in one tap when you come back to collect. The plant's tools, shifts and store are also described on the Pulsework page.
