What it is #
Springline is a climbing game you steer with one thumb or two keys. Your ball bounces on its own: you move it left and right so that it lands on the next pad and bounces higher. There are no walls: go out one side and you come back in on the other. Coins are few and far apart, one at a time, a little off the way up, so you have to steer out to take them, and a pink coin, worth ten, sits down in the open on a narrow pad of its own: take it, but miss that pad and you fall. The screen climbs on its own, a little faster all the time, so you can't stay put; a green pause stops it for a few seconds. Fall off the bottom of the screen, or run into an enemy, and the climb ends; one tap starts it again.
Levels are numbered and never run out, and a climb doesn't stop at the top of one: you are told the level is done, and you keep climbing into the next. A level's number sets how hard it is, and its tower is built anew every time you play, so a second try never plays the same way. As you climb higher, new pads and enemies join in: cracked pads that take one bounce and break, pads that move, ice pads that are hard to steer off, pads that fade once touched, pads that blink, cars you can only land on from above, spinners to keep away from. Teal pads throw you three bounces high. Each one is introduced with a short line the first time you meet it.
Play with friends #
One player hosts a room and gets a code of six letters; the others join with the code, a link or a QR code, from wherever they are, up to 20 players. Everyone climbs the same tower at the same time, each on their own phone, and sees the others climb live, with their names. Choose the mode:
- Race: first to the top wins (250 m to 2 km).
- Each for themselves: the highest when time runs out wins.
- Teams: your team's average height counts.
- Relay: one climber per team; when they fall, the next one goes on from there.
In a room everyone plays with the same ball: upgrades don't count, only looks.
How to play #
| Phone or tablet | Computer | |
|---|---|---|
| Steer | Hold the left or the right side of the screen | Hold the left or right arrow (or A and D) |
| Bounce | It bounces on its own | It bounces on its own |
| Menus | Tap the buttons | Left and right arrows change the level, Space or Enter plays, Escape pauses and closes panels |
- Falling off the bottom or hitting an enemy ends the climb, even on the first level. A shield saves you once.
- The coins you collect are kept even when you fall. Spend them in the store on shields, upgrades and new looks for your ball, its trail and the background. The store is also in the pause, at the cost of the climb in progress.
- It plays in English or in Spanish (as Pa' Arriba): the EN/ES button beside its name switches between them.
Modes #
- Levels: numbered levels that get harder as you go, in worlds of ten, each with its own colours and music, climbed one after another without a stop. Every level has three stars: get past its top, collect every coin on it, and do it on the first try.
- Daily climb: one tower a day, the same for every player. A new one arrives at midnight UTC.
- Endless: one climb that keeps getting harder until you fall. Your score is how high you got.
The leaderboard ranks players with a free account: the highest level and stars, and the best height in Endless. Its top 10 is in the game and on this page.
